Boeing Lands $17.6 Million Deal to Upgrade Japan's F-15 EPAWSS Training System
Boeing has secured a $17.6 million contract modification to upgrade Japan's F-15 EPAWSS training system. The company will integrate electronic warfare functionality into the existing weapons system trainer, supporting Japan's F-15 Super Interceptor program.
The U.S. Air Force awarded Boeing the modification under an existing contract, with work scheduled for completion on February 28, 2031. The project involves software development, testing, simulator software updates, and aircrew and aircraft maintenance courseware.
EPAWSS is a digital electronic warfare system designed to improve F-15 survivability in contested environments. It provides threat detection and electronic warfare functions that can affect how an F-15 crew interprets the electromagnetic environment.
The training integration is significant because it extends EPAWSS modernization beyond aircraft hardware, bringing the aircraft's updated electronic warfare functions into the training environment.
