Boeing Co. (NYSE:BA) shares have been rising steadily on Wednesday after the company secured a contract worth more than $20 billion to develop the U.S. Navy's F/A-XX next-generation stealth fighter.

The Pentagon awarded Boeing the full-scale development contract for the Navy's F/A-XX stealth fighter, set to replace the Navy's F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and EA-18G Growlers in the 2030s.

Pentagon acquisition chief Michael Duffey called the aircraft a 'crucial, non-negotiable investment' in U.S. air combat capability.

This marks Boeing's second sixth-generation fighter win in two years, following its victory over Lockheed Martin in 2025 for the Air Force's F-47 contract.
