Boeing Lands Double Win: F/A-XX and 22 More F-15EX Fighters
Boeing has scored a double win in the combat aviation sector, securing contracts for both the sixth-generation carrier-based F/A-XX fighter and 22 additional F-15EX Eagle II fighters. The US Air Force awarded Boeing the contract for the F-15EX on September 29, 2026, at a cost of $108 million per unit, bringing the total to $2.38 billion.
The latest order will bring the total number of F-15EX aircraft ordered by the US Air Force to 120, with Boeing having already delivered the first aircraft from Lot 3 and working towards increasing production to two fighters per month.
This deal marks a significant opportunity for Boeing to evaluate equipment pricing more closely, as exports often come at a higher cost. The company is also facing production challenges, including software problems, raw material and component supply issues, and factory worker strikes, which have pushed the US Air Force to explore other solutions, such as purchasing F-16s.
