Boeing Lands Navy Contract for Next-Generation F/A-XX Fighter Jet
The U.S. Navy has awarded Boeing a multi-billion-dollar contract to develop and produce its next-generation F/A-XX aircraft. This fighter jet is designed to advance open mission systems architecture, mission systems, and operational capabilities, positioning it as a successor to the F/A-18 Super Hornet fleet. Boeing's selection marks its second win in sixth-generation fighter programs, following the U.S. Air Force's F-47 program in 2025.
Steve Parker, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, expressed pride in being chosen for this critical program. He highlighted Boeing's decades of experience, innovative advancements, and investments in new facilities to support next-generation capabilities. The company's secure manufacturing facility in St. Louis is central to this effort, as part of an advanced, all-digital aerospace design and manufacturing system.
Parker emphasized that the company is not only investing in facilities but also in technology and talent to meet customer needs. The technical and programmatic details of the F/A-XX remain classified under U.S. national security and export laws, ensuring the confidentiality of its advanced features.
