Boeing Posts Steady Recovery in Aircraft Deliveries

Boeing's commercial aircraft deliveries in July were down by 17% compared to June, but up by almost 10% year-on-year. The company handed over 53 new planes, with the Boeing 737 MAX remaining its biggest-volume product at 39 deliveries. This includes ten MAX-family aircraft for United Airlines and nine 787-9 Dreamliners among the widebodies.

The decline in July's deliveries is largely due to a drop in widebody handovers, from 21 in June to 14 last month. However, this still represents a year-on-year increase of almost 10%, with Boeing's total aircraft deliveries for the first seven months of 2026 reaching 367. This is a significant improvement over the same period last year, when Boeing delivered 328 planes.

Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg said that the company should reach its target of increasing production to 47 aircraft per month in the next few months. However, this still puts it behind Airbus, which delivered 67 planes in July and has a seven-month total of 418. Boeing's stronger second quarter helped generate $631 million of positive free cash flow, its first positive quarterly result on that measure since 2023.
