Boeing Scores Big in Defense Contracts Worth $2.38 Billion
Boeing's defense business has scored two major wins in recent days, sparking hopes of a re-rating for the company. On September 29, Boeing secured a $2.38 billion contract from the Air Force for 22 F-15EX fighters, bringing the total number of F-15EXs under contract to 120. The service had initially planned to cap production at 129 jets but has since more than doubled its planned fleet to 269 aircraft.
The F-15EX award was funded with $115 million from the 2026 budget and another $2.8 billion from last year's reconciliation legislation, which stipulated that any unspent funds by October 1, 2026 would be cut by 8.3%. This deadline-driven pressure pushed the award through before the fiscal year ended on September 30.
Later the same day, Boeing was selected by the Navy to build its next-generation air-dominance fighter, dubbed F/A-XX. This win means Boeing has now taken home both the Air Force's and Navy's sixth-generation fighter competitions.
