Boeing Secures Exemption from FAA Emissions Rule for 35 777Fs
Boeing has secured an exemption from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for 35 of its 777F aircraft, allowing them to avoid a new emissions rule set to take effect in 2028. The move is aimed at keeping production levels steady until the company can bring its newer 777-8F model to market.
Boeing had requested the waiver to maintain its monthly production target of two 777Fs, which it hopes will be replaced by the more efficient 777-8F once it becomes available. The exemption applies specifically to aircraft that are currently in production or have already been ordered but not yet delivered.
The FAA's emissions rule is set to come into force in 2028, with Boeing and other manufacturers facing significant costs to meet the new standards. By securing this waiver, Boeing can continue to produce its existing 777F model without having to make major changes or investments.
