Boeing Sells Autonomous Flight Tech Subsidiaries to Archer Aviation
A significant development has taken place in the autonomous flight technology sector as Boeing has signed definitive agreements to sell its Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu subsidiaries to Archer Aviation.
The deal aims to combine the complementary capabilities of both companies, which have collectively accumulated nearly two million flight hours. This synergy is expected to bring new solutions to the market by integrating autonomous flight technologies with electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
The acquired subsidiaries, Wisk, SkyGrid, and Insitu, have pioneered core autonomous flight technologies for future applications. Their expertise is expected to enhance Archer's ZEE artificial intelligence platform, enabling an end-to-end physical AI platform across commercial aerospace, defense, and air traffic management.
