Boeing Soars on $131 Billion F-15 Contract Award
The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) shares rose by 0.29% on Tuesday after the U.S. Air Force awarded Boeing a ceiling contract worth $131.23 billion for its F-15 Eagle Crest program.
The initial funding was much lower, at just $343,740, which is only 0.00026% of the ceiling.
The gap between the ceiling and actual funding matters because this type of contract sets a maximum purchasing framework but does not guarantee that customers will order the full amount.
The F-15 contract has a significant impact on Boeing's capacity, with its $131.23 billion ceiling being 1.54 times the company's defense backlog of $85 billion and 17.5 quarters of its latest revenue of $7.48 billion.
The award covers aircraft production, integration, modernization, upgrades, retrofits, and sustainment, with work to be done in St. Louis through August 2037.
