Boeing Software Glitch Impacts Automated Flight Guidance System

Boeing has identified a software issue in some of its B737 MAX planes that could lead to disengagement of the automated flight guidance system after a missed landing approach.

The aircraft manufacturer informed operators about the issue last month and shared information on existing pilot procedures for safely handling such cases.

A Boeing spokesperson said engineers are working on a software update to permanently address the issue, which has affected certain 737 MAX aircraft.

According to sources, the software issue could result in the automated flight guidance system disengaging after a missed approach if the subsequent approach path differs from the one originally planned.
