Boeing to Share Revised Proposal for PIA Fleet Modernisation
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Boeing Global President Dr Brendan Nelson to discuss Pakistan International Airlines' (PIA) fleet modernisation. The airline is seeking new aircraft and exploring options for earlier delivery slots.
The meeting covered a range of topics, including financing support from the US Export-Import Bank, engine procurement, spare parts, maintenance, and restoration of grounded aircraft. Boeing confirmed that a revised proposal for the acquisition of new aircraft would be shared with PIA.
Aurangzeb welcomed the development and highlighted Pakistan's strong long-term aviation growth potential. He also appreciated Boeing's support for aviation-safety capacity, regulatory engagement, and the restoration of direct flights to the United States.
