Boeing to triple PAC-3 MSE seeker production under $14.7 billion contract
Boeing has secured a major contract valued at approximately $14.7 billion from Lockheed Martin to ramp up production of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) seekers. This contract allows Boeing to triple its production capacity under a previously announced seven-year agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense, which supports the Acquisition Transformation Strategy.
The PAC-3 MSE seekers are critical components of the Patriot missile defense system, enabling advanced interceptors to detect, track, and neutralize a range of threats, including hypersonic, ballistic, and cruise missiles, as well as hostile aircraft.
Steve Parker, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, emphasized the company's readiness to meet the increased demand. "Early investment and a relentless focus on quality and execution have positioned us to now deliver seekers at unprecedented levels in the near-term," Parker stated. He also highlighted the pride of Boeing employees in contributing to global security efforts.
The production scale-up and associated hiring efforts began earlier this year following the initial framework agreement announcement, indicating a strategic response to growing defense needs.
