Boeing, Turkish Airlines Close in on 737 MAX Deal After Engine Maintenance Dispute
Boeing is nearing a deal to finalize its delayed order for 150 of its 737 MAX jets from Turkish Airlines, sources say.
The order was initially held up due to disagreements over engine maintenance costs with CFM, the manufacturer of the engines used in the 737 MAX. However, Boeing and Turkish Airlines have reportedly reached an agreement on the issue.
According to industry insiders, the deal may be signed as early as next week. The delay had caused concerns among analysts, who feared that Turkish Airlines might cancel its order altogether and switch to Airbus instead.
The dispute centered around the cost of long-term engine repairs, with Turkish Airlines seeking a more favorable arrangement from CFM. The airline had threatened to abandon the 737 MAX order last year, citing the disagreement over prices.
