Boeing Unveils Ultra Low-Cost Seeker for Missile Guidance
Boeing has unveiled its Ultra Low-Cost Seeker (ULCS), an active seeker designed to reduce costs for missile guidance systems. The ULCS emits its own radar signal and is built from commercial off-the-shelf parts adapted for military use.
The company pitched the ULCS at the Space and Missile Defense Symposium in Huntsville, Alabama on August 11, 2026, as a way to put missile guidance on more weapons for less money. Boeing designed the seeker on a common baseline so it can be reused across various systems, including air-and-missile-defence interceptors, guided bombs, and cruise missiles.
The ULCS was tested earlier in summer 2026 in an anechoic chamber and flown aboard a Beechcraft 1900 over land and water. Boeing said the seeker detected and tracked moving targets during these tests.
