Boeing Whistleblower Sam Mohawk Speaks Out on Company's Safety Concerns
Sam Mohawk is a quality investigator who has spent over 15 years at Boeing. He was drawn to the company by his father's work on F14 fighter jets and his upbringing in Seattle, where he grew up watching planes take off.
Mohawk joined Boeing in 2011 as a Quality Investigator/Manager and initially admired the company's focus on quality. However, he soon realized that priorities had shifted to profits, leading him to raise concerns internally about cost-cutting measures and regulatory non-compliance.
The turning point came after two Boeing 737 Max aircraft crashed in 2018 and 2019, killing a total of 346 people. Mohawk felt devastated by the Department of Justice's decision to fine Boeing $2.5 billion without holding anyone accountable.
Despite Boeing's promises to strengthen its compliance and safety programs, Mohawk continued to whistleblow internally, but his concerns fell on deaf ears. He claims he was retaliated against for trying to file complaints about missing parts and nonconformance records.
