Boeing Wins Contract for Next-Gen Navy Combat Aircraft
Boeing has been awarded the contract to develop the F/A-XX, a new U.S. carrier-based Navy combat aircraft.
The F/A-XX is expected to replace the Boeing F/A-18E/F fighter and EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft in the Navy's aircraft fleet.
The primary task of the F/A-XX will be carrying out long-range strikes in heavily defended airspace, with a focus on protecting against air and missile attacks.
The contract is estimated to be worth billions of dollars and will bring jobs and economic growth to the St. Louis region.
Congressmen Wesley Bell and Eric Schmitt celebrated the award, highlighting St. Louis' role in its development and looking ahead to production.
