Boeing Wins Emissions Reprieve, But Stock Price Still Takes a Hit
Boeing's stock price took a hit despite some positive news for the aerospace company. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently allowed Boeing to continue producing its 777 freighter aircraft, giving it an exemption from new emissions requirements that would have taken effect in 2028. Without this exemption, production on the 777 freighter would have ceased by 2028.
Boeing will be able to produce another 35 of these aircraft thanks to the exemption, which will help bridge the gap between its current and future products. The company is working on a new freighter that will eventually replace the 777 freighter, but certification delays have pushed this project back by years.
Boeing's defense contracts are also looking positive, with a recent contract modification in Kuwait adding $11.8 million to a previous deal for F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft. This reflects a strong demand internationally for the Super Hornet, which could help boost Boeing's sales in the future.
