Boeing Workers Avert Strike with Approved Contract Deal
Boeing workers union members have approved a new contract offer that includes a significant wage increase and other benefits, averting a potential strike scheduled for next week. The agreement affects around 16,000 employees, mostly in Washington state but also in Oregon, California, and Utah.
The immediate 10% wage hike starting this Friday will benefit engineers, scientists, designers, analysts, and technical personnel. Over the next two years, these employees can expect at least an 18% cumulative salary increase. Average annual salaries for key roles are expected to rise significantly: from $152,000 to $208,000 for engineers, and from $119,000 to $163,000 for technical employees.
Representatives of the union praised the agreement as a positive step in restoring labor-management relations with Boeing. However, some union members expressed concerns that not all their priorities were addressed, particularly regarding outsourcing protections.
