Boeing Workers Ratify Contract, Avert Strike on West Coast
Nearly 10,000 union-represented Boeing workers have ratified a new contract proposal, avoiding a potential West Coast strike. The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) represents 17,000 employees across Washington and Oregon, as well as some sites in Utah and California. The four-year contract includes a 32% wage increase, with a 10% increase effective immediately, and a 7% increase to the company's employee incentive plan starting January 2027.
Boeing's retirement contribution will also increase from 3% to 4% for over 7,500 SPEEA-represented workers under the age of 40, starting in January 2027. The company will transition its retirement contribution to 5% for employees hired before 2027 and who reach the age of 50.
The union's negotiation team stated that while the majority of professional and technical units voted to accept the offer, 'we need to work with Boeing... to rebuild an environment suitable for reestablishing trust with the membership.' The current contract with Boeing is set to expire on October 6.
