Boeing's 737 Max 10 Cleared by FAA Despite Software Glitch
Boeing's 737 Max 10 aircraft has been cleared by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to fly without concerns over a software glitch. The FAA's Corrective Action Review Board determined that pilots retain full control of the aircraft and indications to the flight crew are clear and unambiguous.
The software issue can occur when a pilot needs to abort a landing attempt, forcing the autopilot into a simpler level of automation for pitch control. This increases the crew's workload compared to the standard mode.
Boeing will issue a bulletin to airlines about responding to situations where the malfunction occurs, and the FAA will also issue a special airworthiness information bulletin to US carriers and foreign regulators.
