Boeing's 737 MAX Production Hits Snag Over Wing Supply Chain
Boeing's efforts to stabilize production of its 737 MAX line are taking longer than expected, according to CEO Kelly Ortberg. The company aims to produce 52 planes per month but is currently only producing 47.
The main constraint on production is the wing supply chain, which has not improved as quickly as Boeing had hoped.
Ortberg acknowledged that the company still needs to address flow issues before it can move forward with its plans. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) initially capped the 737 MAX production rate at 38 per month but has since allowed it to increase in intervals.
The FAA certified the 737 MAX 7 in August, and certification for the MAX 10 is expected 'very soon,' according to Ortberg.
