Boeing's 737 MAX Software Glitch Causes Automation Loss During Landings

Boeing has identified a software glitch in its 737 MAX aircraft, which could cause pilots to lose automation during landing scenarios. The issue affects certain planes and may lead to disengagement of the automated flight guidance system after a missed approach if the subsequent approach path differs from the original plan.

The company informed operators about the problem last month and is working on a permanent fix. As a precautionary measure, Boeing has advised operators to reset the system following a missed approach. This issue affects around 96 aircraft operated by Air India Express and Akasa Air in India.

Akasa Air confirmed that it was coordinating with Boeing but stated there was no impact on the safety of its operations. The airline did not specify whether any of its planes had been affected by the glitch. Boeing has delivered over 2,400 737 MAX aircraft globally.
