Boise Resident Warren Rutter Passes Away at 94 After Decades in Tech and Horticulture
Warren William Rutter lived an impressive 94 years, passing away on August 1, 2026. Born in Belleville, Illinois, Warren was the youngest of four siblings to Lillie H. (Linck) and Theodore F. Rutter.
After attending local schools, he graduated from Washington University in St. Louis before serving two years in the U.S. Army. He began a long career with IBM and Control Data, working on various computer software projects in different cities across the United States.
In 1990, Warren met Judith E. Gribbin in Atlanta, and they fell deeply in love. They were married on October 31, 1992. The couple moved to Boise, Idaho, in 2011 to be near Judy's sisters.
Warren was an active member of the Boy Scout and Explorer Scout programs, participating in two National Jamborees and leading a group to Region 7 Canoe Base in Wisconsin. He also volunteered at botanical gardens in both Atlanta and Boise for over 25 years.
