Brighton Celebrates Late Anniversary with Unusual All-Blue Jersey
Brighton & Hove Albion's home game against Arsenal was notable for more than just the score. The Seagulls' usual blue and white striped jersey was replaced with an all-blue number, featuring their sponsor American Express in tiny letters.
The reason behind this unusual choice is to mark 125 years since the club's foundation. However, fans pointed out that the team is a few months late, as Brighton actually started up on June 24, 1901.
Brighton has come a long way from their lower division days. They are now in their second spell in England's top flight, having previously played there between 1979-80 and 1982-83. The summer of 1997 saw them narrowly avoid dropping out of the English league system on goal difference.
