Brooklyn Man Charged with Arson After Setting Himself on Fire at Google NYC Building

A 63-year-old Brooklyn man set himself on fire in the lobby of a Manhattan building housing Google offices, authorities said.

The incident occurred at around 3 p.m. on Friday, August 28, at 315 Hudson St., according to the NYPD.

John Butch was taken by EMS to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition after responding officers found him with burns throughout his body.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remained under investigation, and Butch has been charged with arson, criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment.
