Calvin O. Yowell Jr., IBM Veteran and Cancer Survivor, Passes Away at 88

Calvin O. Yowell Jr., a 30-year survivor of stage 4 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, passed away on August 30, 2026, at his home in Easton, MD.

Yowell spent over 35 years working for IBM, where he held positions in program management and technical writing. After leaving the company, he pursued consulting, real-estate, and teaching opportunities.

A devoted family man, Yowell was pre-deceased by his wife Polly Ann in 2013. He is survived by two children, Gwen Lacy and Graham Yowell; five grandchildren, Matthew Lacy, Megan Lacy, Jonathan Yowell, Marissa Yowell, and Daniela Yowell; and two great-grandchildren, Melanie and Reece.

In addition to his professional and personal life, Yowell remained involved in various community activities, including leadership roles at St Mark's United Methodist Church and the Rotary. He also enjoyed boating and fishing on the Eastern shore and was known for his love of animals, particularly his Labrador companions.
