Carson City Resident Johanna 'Jony' Teelen Sellers Dies at 96
Johanna 'Jony' Justiena Teelen Sellers lived an adventurous life that spanned over nine decades. Born in Amsterdam, Holland on December 25, 1926, she was a teenager when WWII ravaged her homeland.
In 1951, Jony met her future husband, Grover Winston Sellers, at the American Express office in Amsterdam where she was mentoring him. They married on September 4, 1951 and spent over 50 years together before his passing in 2001.
The couple moved to Carson City in 1989 after retiring from AAA. Jony continued to be active in her community, participating in various roles such as Campfire Girl Leader, Sunday school teacher, Stephen Minister, prayer shawl knitter, and an avid bridge player who became a Silver Master.
