Caterpillar has agreed to acquire Fabick Cat, one of its largest dealerships in the US. The acquisition includes all 37 locations across Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois, and Michigan, which employ over 1,200 people.

Fabick Cat was founded in 1917 by John Fabick Sr. and has been an exclusive Caterpillar dealer for the St. Louis region since 1927. In 2015, it merged with Fabco Equipment out of Milwaukee. Doug Fabick led the company from 2000 to 2022 but was removed as dealer principal and forced to sell his 63% controlling stake in 2024 after a legal battle.

Caterpillar has stated that the acquisition is a customer-focused decision aimed at maintaining strong service and local support for customers. The deal is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close within 30 days.
