Caterpillar Drops $1 Billion on North Carolina Expansion
Caterpillar Inc., a leading equipment manufacturer based in Texas, is planning to invest approximately $1 billion in North Carolina as part of its expansion efforts. The investment aims to increase production capacity for compact equipment amid growing demand from various industries.
The new manufacturing facility will be built in Sanford, North Carolina, and will focus on producing compact track loaders and telehandlers, which are used extensively in construction, landscaping, agriculture, and material handling sectors.
Rod Shurman, Caterpillar Construction Industries Group President, stated that the investment is a response to the rising demand for compact equipment. The expansion is expected to support the company's U.S. manufacturing operations and create positions related to automation, robotics, digital manufacturing, and production systems.
