Caterpillar Drops $1 Billion on North Carolina Plant Expansion
Caterpillar is investing $1 billion in its manufacturing plant in Sanford, North Carolina, to meet growing demand for compact track loaders and telehandlers. The new facility will produce equipment used in construction, landscaping, agriculture, and material handling.
The North Carolina plant was chosen for expansion due to Caterpillar's existing presence in the state and a strong local workforce. According to Rod Shurman, President of Construction Industries at Caterpillar, 'As demand for compact equipment continues to increase, we're investing to better serve this growing segment of customers.'
Caterpillar claims the project will create jobs in automation, robotics, digital manufacturing, and advanced production systems.
