Caterpillar Invests $1 Billion in North Carolina Manufacturing Facility
Caterpillar is investing $1 billion in a new manufacturing facility in Sanford, North Carolina. The expansion will increase production of compact track loaders and telehandlers to meet growing customer demand.
The company already has factories in Clayton, Goldsboro, and Winston-Salem, but this new facility represents a significant investment for the area. In fact, officials said that if Caterpillar had left Lee County, it would have been devastating to the local economy.
Sanford leaders held a public hearing and vote earlier this month on the project, code-named 'Project Paragon.' The town council agreed to provide about $40 million in incentives, while Lee County commissioners approved another $46 million. With these investments, Caterpillar will be able to meet growing demand for its products.
