Caterpillar Inc., a leading heavy equipment manufacturer, has announced plans to invest approximately $1 billion in North Carolina as part of its strategy to expand manufacturing capacity for compact track loaders and telehandlers.

The investment includes the construction of a new facility in Sanford, North Carolina, which will increase production to meet growing customer demand. The modern facility will feature advanced manufacturing technologies, automation, digital production systems, and integrated logistics capabilities.

Caterpillar's Construction Industries Group President Rod Shurman stated that the company is investing in North Carolina due to its longstanding presence in the state, strong local workforce, and existing manufacturing expertise and operations in Sanford. The project supports Caterpillar's Cat Compact strategy, focused on delivering a more streamlined experience for small contractors and growing businesses.
