Caterpillar Roars Ahead with Record Sales and Higher Guidance
Caterpillar's Q2 earnings call highlighted record sales and revenue growth of 24% year-over-year, surpassing $20 billion for the first time in its history. The company reported adjusted operating profit of $4.5 billion, with an adjusted operating margin of 21.9%, a 430 basis-point improvement from last year.
Record Machinery, Energy & Transportation (MP&E) free cash flow reached $5.1 billion for the quarter, up roughly $2.8 billion from last year. Caterpillar returned $2.2 billion to shareholders through buybacks and dividends, with an 8% dividend increase.
The company lifted its full-year 2026 outlook to mid- to high-teens sales and revenue growth, expecting adjusted operating margins to come in higher than prior expectations, excluding the Q2 tariff recovery benefit.
