Caterpillar Inc. posted record-breaking second-quarter sales and revenue of $20.5 billion, surpassing the $20 billion mark for the first time in a single quarter.

The company's adjusted earnings per share (EPS) rose to $8.17, exceeding analysts' expectations by $1.98 per share, or 31.99%.

Caterpillar attributed the strong results to stronger volume, pricing, and margin expansion across all three main segments: Construction Industries, Power & Energy, and Resource Industries.
