Celebrity side hustles have evolved significantly over the years. No longer do A-listers simply license their names for endorsement deals; today, they're building massive business empires with serious valuations and global reach.

A pivotal moment in this shift came in 2007 when rapper 50 Cent banked $100 million from the sale of Vitaminwater to Coca-Cola. He opted for an equity stake instead of a standard fee, changing celebrity business forever.

Since then, payouts have ballooned into the billions. Dr Dre sold Beats to Apple for $3 billion in 2014, while George Clooney's Casamigos fetched $1 billion in 2017. During the pandemic, Ryan Reynolds and Conor McGregor parted with their drinks brands for around $600 million each.

Not all celebrity ventures have been successful, however. Martha Stewart sold her lifestyle brand for a fraction of its former value following legal woes. Jessica Simpson's fashion label was generating $1 billion annually before tumbling into bankruptcy in 2022.
