Changi Hospital and IBM Unveil AI-Powered Paediatric Mass Casualty Training System

Changi General Hospital and IBM are collaborating to create an AI-powered platform for training paediatric emergency responders. The system, which combines artificial intelligence, mixed reality, and clinical expertise, aims to enhance decision-making and improve outcomes in mass casualty incidents.

The solution uses IBM's Watson X Orchestrate for workflow orchestration and performance tracking. It also features an AI Assessor that analyzes voice communications, treatment actions, and simulation data to evaluate emergency response training objectively.

According to Adjunct Assistant Professor Jimmy Goh, senior consultant at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Changi General Hospital, the platform provides real-time performance insights and AI-assisted feedback. This enables better-prepared clinicians, faster and more coordinated care, and ultimately safer, smarter, and more personalized outcomes for patients.

Goh added that this technology is crucial in emergency situations where every moment matters. The platform's objective evaluation and analysis will help identify response gaps and improve debriefing processes.
