Chase Targets Affluent Travelers with New IHG Credit Card Offer
Chase has expanded its IHG co-brand credit card lineup to cater to affluent travelers with higher spending habits. The new IHG One Premier Select Credit Card, part of Chase's refreshed portfolio, offers a $350 annual fee and rewards such as up to $300 in food and beverage credits at IHG properties and up to $200 in airline statement credits.
The card also allows users to earn points on IHG stays, dining, travel, and other purchases. According to eMarketer, affluent travelers book nearly double the trips of non-affluent consumers, making premium cards a crucial part of issuers' strategies.
However, Chase's new card aims to strike a balance between targeting high-end customers and neglecting middle-tier options. With a $350 annual fee lower than that of the American Express Platinum Card or Chase's own Sapphire Reserve, IHG One Premier Select is positioned as an attractive mid-tier option for users.
