ChatGPT Aims to Disrupt Google Workspace with New Collaboration Tools

OpenAI's fourth annual DevDay conference has revealed several significant updates to its ChatGPT platform, sparking speculation that it is positioning itself as a competitor to Google Workspace. The new features include 'Space', a collaborative workspace for teams to work with AI, 'Pages', a document creation tool, and 'slides', a presentation feature.

'Space' allows users to collaborate on projects with their teammates and ChatGPT's agentic feature, Dots. It is available now in the desktop app and web version, with mobile access coming soon. OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, emphasized that these features are part of a new system designed for human-AI collaboration.

The announcement comes after Anthropic's recent launch of Claude Docs, which integrates document and slide creation tools into its chatbot platform. OpenAI has also introduced 'Private Intelligence', a data access approval layer to address concerns about data security in AI adoption.
