Chevron Beats Analyst Estimates with Record Quarterly Profit
Chevron's second-quarter earnings beat analyst estimates, reporting its highest quarterly profit in at least six years. The company's adjusted earnings of $12 billion, or $6.06 per share, exceeded expectations of $5.56 per share.
The strong results were driven by higher oil prices, which rose 23% during the second quarter compared to the first three months of the year. Benchmark Brent crude prices remained limited due to disruptions in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Chevron's CEO Mike Wirth stated that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East would continue to put global energy supplies under stress, while Chief Financial Officer Eimear Bonner emphasized the company's focus on maintaining its balance sheet over the long term.
