Chevron College Accepts Applications for Postgraduate Diploma in Civil Engineering with Sustainability

Chevron College is set to begin its next intake of the Postgraduate Diploma in Civil Engineering with Sustainability on October 12, after earlier this year exploring why Ireland's civil engineers are increasingly turning to postgraduate study to formalise their sustainability expertise.

The diploma, delivered in partnership with the University of East London and funded by Springboard+, is structured around four capability areas: technical knowledge of sustainable engineering systems, critical thinking applied to complex or incomplete-data problems, practical skills using industry-standard structural analysis software, and communication skills needed to bring specialist and non-specialist audiences along with technical decisions.

The course targets practising engineers rather than recent graduates, requiring a BEng (minimum 2:2) or BSc (minimum 2:1) in Civil Engineering, though professional membership of ICE or IStructE is also accepted in place of a degree. The diploma is delivered fully online, anchored by an induction day and up to five interactive Saturday sessions across the year.

The funding window supports the course fee, which is brought down to €650 through Springboard+ support, with free places available for those in receipt of a qualifying DSP payment or returning to the workforce. Chevron College points to a spread of career directions the diploma supports directly: sustainable design engineer roles focused on whole-life carbon reduction, progression into senior or associate structural engineer grades, ESG and sustainability management positions as that reporting becomes mandatory for larger firms, and net-zero infrastructure work spanning renewable energy, green transport and flood resilience projects under Ireland's Climate Action Plan.
