A class action lawsuit has been filed by Trujillo & Winnick LLP on behalf of fourteen plaintiffs who claim to have suffered property damage due to a fire at Chevron's El Segundo refinery in October 2025. The amended complaint alleges that the fire, which occurred on October 2-3, sent soot, ash, and oily residue onto nearby properties.

The proposed classes include Real Property Class and Personal Property Class, covering those who owned real property or personal vehicles within a ten-mile radius of the refinery during the fire. The complaint seeks relief for property damage, interference with use and enjoyment, and abatement of remaining deposits.

The lawsuit names Chevron U.S.A. Inc. and Chevron Corporation as defendants, alleging negligence, premises liability, strict liability, private nuisance, public nuisance, trespass to land, and trespass to chattels. However, no class has been certified, and the case is ongoing.
