Chevron is focused on efficiency and productivity after its blockbuster second quarter. The company saw significant gains in its upstream segment, driven by higher oil prices and increased production from existing assets.

The energy giant reported a net income of $7.8 billion for the second quarter, a 25% increase from the same period last year. Chevron's upstream operations generated $2.3 billion in profit before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (PBITDA), up from $1.5 billion in the second quarter of 2020.

Chevron's chairman and CEO, Michael Wirth, attributed the company's success to its focus on efficiency and productivity. 'We've made significant progress in our efforts to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs,' he said.
