Chevron Scores Big in Angola with Groundbreaking Oil Discovery
Chevron has made significant discoveries in Angola's Lower Congo Basin, marking a new growth chapter for the company. The 105-4X exploration well in Block 0 discovered an oil and gas condensate column exceeding 2,000 feet, including over 300 feet of net pay in high-quality reservoirs.
Chevron plans to assess the discovery for potential tie-back to nearby facilities, offering a capital-efficient route to production. This follows another recent milestone: the South N'dola Platform, also located in Block 0, delivered first oil in December 2025.
The company operates Block 0 with a 39.2% working interest and holds a significant stake in Angola LNG, which has capacity to process 1.1 billion cubic feet of gas per day. Chevron's Angolan portfolio also includes interests in deepwater Block 14 and Blocks 33, 49, and 50.
