Chevron Unlocks New Oil Potential in Angola Amid Sub-Saharan Africa Drilling Push
Chevron has made another significant oil discovery in Angola as part of its push into Sub-Saharan Africa. The company's 105-4X exploration well, drilled in the Lower Congo Basin, found an oil and gas condensate column exceeding 600 meters (2,000 ft) in the Pinda reservoir, with over 90 meters (300 ft) of net pay in high-quality rock.
The discovery is part of Chevron's strategy to combine high-impact exploration with infrastructure-led opportunities near existing facilities. The company currently produces around 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) across the region and has been expanding its position in several African basins over the past year.
Chevron holds a 39.2% working interest in Block 0, operated by CABGOC, which is located adjacent to the Cabinda province coastline. The company's broader Sub-Saharan Africa exploration strategy aims to leverage existing infrastructure and build on recent discoveries, including those in Nigeria and Angola.
