KOSPI Reaches 7,100-Point Level on Semiconductor Strength
The domestic stock market has recovered to its 7,100-point level after ending the Liberation Day holiday. The KOSPI index stood at 7112.96 as of 9:01 a.m. on the 18th, up 135.02 points (1.93%) from the previous day. This recovery is largely attributed to the strength of semiconductor stocks, particularly Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
The New York Stock Exchange was affected by renewed tensions between the U.S. and Iran, leading to a decline in international oil prices. However, the news that the U.S. government sent Apple a request to refrain from purchasing Chinese memory semiconductors boosted semiconductor stocks. As a result, Samsung Electronics rose 3.37%, while SK Hynix increased by 5.84%.
The KOSDAQ index fell 4.87 points (0.56%) from the previous trading day to 858.56 as of 9:11 a.m. Foreigners and institutions are net sellers in the KOSDAQ market, while individuals are net buyers.
