Christodoulides Urges Chevron to Accelerate Aphrodite Gas Field Development

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides has called on Chevron to accelerate its plans for the Aphrodite gas field development project. The president met with Javier la Rosa, Chevron's head of base assets and developing countries, to discuss the progress of the project.

Christodoulides emphasized that the development of the field is a strategic priority for Cyprus, citing significant progress already made on the project. He stressed the need to maintain momentum and accelerate the timeline for making a final investment decision.

The talks also addressed energy cooperation between Cyprus and Egypt, highlighting the potential for using gas from the Aphrodite field through Egyptian infrastructure. Christodoulides confirmed Cyprus' readiness to continue cooperation with Chevron and other partners to implement the project's next stages.
