Cisco Teams with Metro Cebu Water District to Reduce Non-Revenue Water

Cisco has teamed up with Metro Cebu Water District (MCWD) to modernize the city's water infrastructure and reduce non-revenue water (NRW). NRW refers to treated water that is lost before it reaches consumers, which in this case amounts to around 32% of the supply.

The initiative, under Cisco's Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) program, aims to protect and efficiently deliver critical resources to the communities that need them most. To achieve this, MCWD will use Cisco's networking and industrial edge technologies to track water flow and pressure conditions in real-time using smart sensors.

The data collected will be funneled into a centralized supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) platform, providing operations teams with a live, end-to-end view of the network. This will enable them to catch anomalies such as sudden pressure drops or unusual flow patterns before they trigger costly pipe bursts or impact the population.

The solution will be piloted in the F. Pacaña area and is designed to be scalable, allowing MCWD to expand visibility and NRW reduction across Metro Cebu without having to redesign its systems from scratch.
