Cleaning Up Gmail Instantly Frees Up Space Without Needing Google One Upgrade

Google One users may not need to upgrade their storage plans just yet. A recent experience by an Android Police writer shows that cleaning up a cluttered Gmail inbox can instantly free up space and improve performance.

The writer's Gmail storage was almost full, but it wasn't due to the number of emails. Instead, it was large attachments, old threads, and forgotten files occupying space. To tackle the issue, they started by searching for the biggest space hogs in their inbox using the search bar. By typing 'has:attachment larger:10M', they quickly identified emails with attachments bigger than 10MB.

Next, they reviewed old emails from services that frequently send large files, such as scanned documents and shared media. Deleting a handful of these messages freed up more space than clearing hundreds of small emails.
