Coca-Cola Commits $1 Billion to Nigeria Over Five Years
Coca-Cola has announced plans to invest $1 billion in Nigeria over the next five years. This decision comes after a socio-economic assessment of the company's operations in the country, conducted by global consultancy Steward Redqueen in 2024.
The study used the Nobel Prize-winning Leontief input-output economic model and found that Coca-Cola supported approximately 160,200 jobs throughout its value chain. This includes direct employees and indirect jobs sustained across sectors such as agriculture, logistics, retail, hospitality, and distribution.
The assessment also highlighted the multiplier effect of Coca-Cola's operations, with an additional 53 jobs supported elsewhere in the economy for every job created directly by the company. Additionally, the report estimated that the Coca-Cola System generated $1 billion in value-added economic activity within Nigeria during the period under review.
