Coca-Cola Fields and Healthcare Grants Flood Fort Smith News
Coca-Cola has secured naming rights to the football fields at Northside High School and Southside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The company will pay $40,000 per year for 10 years, totaling $400,000, to replace athletic turf at both stadiums.
The agreement was announced during a signing ceremony on October 1st. According to the Fort Smith Public School District, the funds will support replacement of athletic turf at Mayo-Thompson Stadium and Jim Rowland Stadium.
The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith (UAFS) also received a $50,000 grant from Arvest Foundation to support its new Center for Mother and Infant Healthcare. The center is part of a larger Center for Health Innovation on the UAFS campus, which will feature high-fidelity simulation laboratories and an innovative public-access program.
The city of Fort Smith has been actively tackling water leaks, repairing 1,684 leaks in the first nine months of 2026. The city's September leak report showed a decrease in new leaks confirmed, with 219 active leaks at the end of August decreasing to 20 by the end of September.
